I am a clinical psychologist in practice in Oklahoma City.
My practice consists of psychotherapy with adults and also psychological testing on both an inpatient and an outpatient basis.
I work collaboratively with a group of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. This gives all of us the flexibility to refer to each other and to utilize the different types of skills of the different mental health professions.
I have been in practice in Oklahoma City since 1980. I initially came to Oklahoma to participate in the NIMH Treatment of Depression Collaborative Research Program at OU. After working at the University of Oklahoma for 11 years as an Associate Professor, I left to go into private practice. I have been in private practice since 1991.
About half of my practice is focused on psychotherapy. Clients and I work on depression, anxiety, anger, and so on.
The other major focus of my practice is psychological testing. This usually focuses on ADHD, dementia, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. The nature of the testing depends on the needs of the client and/or the request of the referring professional.
For therapists interested in learning about cognitive behavioral therapy, I offer consultation in CBT technique.
Sometimes individual therapy is not the best way to work on a problem. In that situation, I also offer couples therapy. In some instances I will work with an individual and refer the couple to another professional.
Work with Couples
Not all counseling involves medium or long term work. Sometimes, only crisis intervention is needed to help a person get back on their feet.
